2v1 to goal is a simple drill that gives an advantage to the offense so that they can take quality shots.
Set Up
Set up two cones 25-30 yards away from a large goal to function as lines for the attackers. Get a line of defenders at a post.
How It Works
The ball starts with the first defender who plays a pass out to the attackers. The attackers then play 2v1 to goal. Because the attackers outnumber the defender, they should always get a shot off.
Coaching Points
Have the first attacker dribble towards the defender at speed to commit them. Once the defender is committed the attacker can make an easy pass to a wide open teammate. Attackers can also be encouraged to use combinations such as wall passes, takeovers, and overlaps.
