Dribble tag with exercises is a fun warm-up tag game where players dribble soccer balls and perform different exercises when they get tagged.
Set Up
Set up a grid for players to dribble inside. All players need soccer balls except for two or three taggers who need pinnies.
How It Works
The dribblers dribble around the field trying to avoid being tagged by the taggers. In the event that a dribbler gets tagged, they must perform an exercise that is specified by the coach. These exercises change each round and can be things like body weight squats, lunges, push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, etc. Once the tagged players complete the exercise they are back in the game. Rotate taggers each round and keep rounds short, around 1-2 minutes.
Coaching Points
Instead of doing stationary exercises coaches can also set cones around the outside of the grid and have tagged players leave their ball and run around an outside cone, doing different dynamic locomotions each round to get back into the game.
